From May 18th to 25th, 2024, the INTACH Mangaluru chapter hosted an exhibition titled ‘Combining Kudla with Pens and Brushes’ at Kodialguthu (West). This event showcased sketches of Mangaluru’s heritage by five talented artists from Dakshina Kannada. The exhibition beautifully highlighted the city’s rich cultural tapestry, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in Mangaluru’s vibrant heritage.
On May 23rd, 2024, our Grade 9 and 10 students, accompanied by their teachers, visited this intriguing and inspiring exhibition. Mr. Subhas Chandra Basu, the convenor of INTACH Mangaluru chapter, and Mr. Nemiraj Shetty, a renowned artist, gave insightful talks on the significance of art and heritage.
During the visit, the students also explored the ‘Guthu House,’ where they admired the exquisite woodwork, including large solid teakwood pillars and ceilings, and various beautiful wooden pieces such as a swing, chests, writing desks, shelves, and elegant chairs. The students were enchanted by these historical artifacts and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
