The arrival of the monsoon heralds a succession of religious festivals at Amrita Vidyalaya in Mangalore, with Ashadhi Ekadashi leading the way.

At our school, we recognize the profound impact of experiential learning, and as such, we actively engage our students in the celebration of diverse festivals. Kicking off the festive calendar was the observance of “Ashadhi Ekadashi” on 28/6/23, a gathering that saw enthusiastic participation from students ranging from UKG to 10th standard. Under the guidance of MS Tanishka, the festivities commenced with the reverential offering of flowers to the Vitthal Rukmini idol, followed by a poignant pooja led by our respected Principal, Mrs. Akshatha Shenoy. The students were enlightened about the cultural significance of Ashadhi Ekadashi through an illuminating video presentation, and the air resonated with the soulful melodies of Bhajans.

Adding to the festive charm, some of the students took on the role of little warkaris, with girls adorning themselves in nine-yard saris and basil pots poised gracefully on their heads. The rhythmic chanting and melodious bhajans created an ambiance filled with both joy and spirituality. The program reached its crescendo with the poignant Vitthal Arti, leaving an indelible impression of gaiety and a profound sense of connection to the divine on all attendees.
